Look & Light® Description?

As soon as a child has enough strength it wants to move. Normally this is fantastic for a parent, but not when a diaper needs to be changed. Every parent knows the challenge of a child that does everything except lying still, because it wants to turn around. With the Look & Light®, the diaper change challenge turns into a pleasant, positive and joyful activity for the parent, aswell as for the child.

What is the Look & Light®?
It’s a lot, but first of all it’s a mirror. The ‘Flower head’ contains an unbreakable mirror which you can easily place above the child. During changing the diaper the child entertains itself by looking in the mirror (see picture 2) and for example practice his/her facial movements, waving it’s hands etc. By talking to the child (where is your nose, stick out your tongue, can you see …., etc) there is real and meaningful interaction between child and parent.

Because of the convex mirror (picture 3) the child can not only see his/herself but also the surrounding or even watches how the diaper is changed. The mirror can also be turned to another part of the room where the child wants to look (for example out of the window).

The Look & Light® is developed in cooperation with the University of Twente. Our test panels, which consisted of Young parents and kindergarten nannies came, showed that with the Look& Light® it was much easier to change the diaper and that the situation was seen as more positive and joyful.

But the Look & Light® is more!

1. 1. The Look & Light® is also a night lamp (picture 4). On the upper side of the flower head is a semi-transparent part with a soft LED Light behind it. When the Flower head is put down, the night lamp will be visible. Because the light works on batteries, the Look & Light® can be placed everywhere. This will surely accommodate a good night sleep.

2. But there is more! Every parent knows the challenge of checking or changing a diaper in the middle of the night. In the dark it is almost impossible and too much light will make the baby more awake than required. With the Look & Light® this problem will be history. The parent will turn the flower head up or sideways and the soft light will give the parent the possibility to see what needs to be seen, without having a baby that thinks play time has begun (see picture 5).

3. Finally the Look & Light® is there for older kids. When the flower head is put up (picture 6 and 7), kids who can already sit or stand can see themselves while brushing their teeth, or for example doing their hair. This will definitely make these activities more pleasant for both parents as for the child itself.

Unique elements of the Look & Light®

• The counter weight (leafs on the bottom) is made heavy enough to keep the Look & Light® on its place by itself (see picture 7).
• The counter weight is placed under the diaper change mat. The weight of the baby will also keep the Look & Light® on it’s place.
• This makes it possible to use the Look & Light® in almost every baby room without using a difficult fixing system or putting screws in the wall or the furniture.
• The 4AA batteries that make the Look & Light® wireless are placed in the steel. The batteries will last for over 900 hours (about 3 months when the light is on every night).
• The steel is firmly attached to the counter weight and the flower head and is flexible enough to be moved in all directions.
